Black & Decker 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching Lawn Mower #CMM1200
The Black & Decker 24-volt cordless mulching mower gives you the power to mow or mulch your lawn without the mess, noise, smell and hassle of a gas-powered mower or the limitations of a cord. Using a 24-volt sealed lead acid battery, this mower has enough power to mow up to a 1/3-acre lawn on one charge (grass conditions will affect run-time). It can be operated as a mower by attaching a bag to catch the clippings, or it can be operated as an effective mulcher using a mulch plate; both the bag and the mulch plate are included. The rechargeable 24-volt battery conveniently regains up to 60-70 percent of its full power in only 4 hours, and up to 100 percent in 16 hours; the mower turns on quickly with just a switch. All four wheels can easily be adjusted with a one-touch lever to shift the blade height from 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches; the push handle folds down when not in use for more compact storage. This product comes fully assembled, is backed by a full 2-year warranty, and the 19-inch, tough polymer cutting deck has a lifetime warranty.

Black & Decker 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching Lawn Mower #CMM1200 Reviews
For us cordless electric mower is a good fit. My wife is the primary grass cutter in the family and though she could handle the old gas mower it sometimes was a bit much to start and maneuver. However, for us this mower makes up the difference in price in convenience and ease of use. After checking the mower I found that the blade had not been completely sharpened at the factory. At about twice the price of a comparable gas mower there is no way one could justify the price in operational savings over a gas mower. The first time the mower was used on our yard I was I bit concerned how the it would perform because the grass was much higher than normal. Set up is simple; just open the box fold out the handle and charge.
And after receiving ours I can see why. Normally with grass this high our old mower would leave clumps cut grass behind, the B&D did not. Height is easily adjusted by squeezing a latch on the side of the mower and applying a small amount of pressure to push down or lift the mower. After sharpening it preformed as good as any mower we have used. The only problem I found was that it did not seem to cut a level path. This mower was purchased about 6 months ago to replace a 6.5 HP mulching mower which was a bit over sized for the yard we have and had come to the end of its life.
After doing some research we found that this model Black and Decker received high marks and praise from its owners. In fact, I found that this mower mulched much better than our old gas one. However, I found that it had more than enough power to get the job done.
I read lots of awful reviews so was unsure, but I have been happy so far. The CONS are: bad instruction manual; awkward charging port / ignition slot; seems to miss patches of grass here and there; mulching function is so-so; and it's louder than I thought it would be. I received my B&D late in the season and so have only been able to use it 3 times. Overall I would recommend this mower if you have a small/medium yard. The PROS are: no more gas and oil.; pull the handle and go - no yanking and starter fluid; and "better" for the environment. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could.
After a summer of mowing our lawn with this machine, it's far exceeded my expectations. And no fooling with engine oil, filling the gas tank, etc. However, the advantages of the electric motor make it worth the extra cost. Hills are thus a bit of a workout. * The difference is apparent from the moment you first use the mower.
I never, ever thought I'd say I actually liked a lawn mower, but this one is different. Our yard is about 20x30 feet in the front and 60x30 feet in the back, and even with thick overgrown grass and the mulch setting, I have yet to drain a charge with one mowing. You won't be disappointed. * The excessive plastic gives it a bit of a cheap feeling, and there are some annoying requirements, such as a key to turn on the unit that one could easily lose. Enough not to annoy the neighbors if you mow early in the morning. * The mower is MUCH quieter than a typical gas-powered engine.
I knew a corded electric would never do - cumbersome, and doubtless I'd manage to run over the cord. Just plug it in overnight and it's ready to go in the morning. The blade does not cover the entire width of the mower, so you have to overlap your mowing paths a bit more. * Do you really save money over a gas mower. Probably not. But overall, really minor concerns with an otherwise excellent machine. With it set on mulch, it's about as loud as a hair-dryer. After having yet another gasoline mower die on me, and with gas over $4/gallon, I decided to try a cordless mower.
After years of struggling with starters on mowers, it's stunning to have one turn on and off as easily as turning a light switch. * The unit is HEAVY, mostly because of the battery. Although it costs much less to run the electric motor, the cost difference is enough that I can't imagine you'd ever recoup it, even if gas prices got much worse. * Cutting & mulching is very efficient; not as much clumping of clippings like I had with my last few mowers, especially on thick patches.
Great performer. Charges overnight. This is my second rechargeable electric mower. Green machine - saves the environment. Comes installed. No need to store flammable gas and oil.
