Bosch 1591EVSK 6.4 Amp Barrel Grip Jigsaw
Top Handle Jigsaw With 6.5A, 4 Stage Orbital Action, 3 Way Blade Clamping System Firmly Grasps T-Shank Blades, Lever Activated Blade Change System With Ejector, Variable Speed Control Dial, Adjustable Dust Blower & Tool-Less Foot Adjustment.
When we first heard of barrel grip jig saws, we were pretty skeptical about the comfort and control they could offer, since we were so accustomed to the typical top-handle design. It really was a genuine surprise to feel the difference. The control is amazing, and cutting scrollwork is an absolute delight with this saw, something we can't honestly say about most top-handle models. With this design, it almost feels as if the cutter is an extension of your hand, smooth and responsive. The blade-change system on this Bosch is among the best we've seen: They weren't kidding when they named it the One Touch Blade Change. We like the speed range, from 500 all the way up to 2,800 strokes per minute to handle whatever you need to cut, and the cutting line actually stays clean because of the integrated, adjustable blower (which, we have to say, works better at higher speeds). With the barrel design, there's no trigger; instead, the speed is controlled by a dial on the rear of the tool body. It's a tad clumsy at first when you're used to trigger-controlled speed, but it's a learning curve, and it's worth it.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Bosch 1591EVSK 6.4 Amp Barrel Grip Jigsaw Reviews
A pleasure to use, highly recommended. Back in the day the Bosch jig saw was all that we used. Great tool. I love it.
A couple of years ago I bought a Bosch knock-off jig saw made by Grizzly. The Bosch would cut steel raised floor panels all day long without a wimper. This is the top end of jig saws, accurate, powerful, smooth. After My dozen years in the Tavern business I am back doing construction, handyman type things. Easy to control, square cuts, very low vibration, easy blade changes. I had never used a barrel grip before but it seemed it would be even more controlable than the handled type. Not necessarily real small jobs, but certainly diverse.
I used to be a union carpenter, 22 years, but got into other business for a dozen years or so. I did all comercial work, a lot of metal cutting. I got a job where I was going to have to do some rather fancy cuts requiring a jig saw so I decided to acquire a new Bosch. Took a little getting used to the power switch, but not a problem. Not a bad saw for the price, but definately not a Bosch.
I purchased this jigsaw about a year ago to make a large project from 3/4" plywood. I would definitely recommend this tool to anybody. It performs very well with Bosch blades that are appropriate to the material. I was easily able to make any cut I needed.
I blame that more on operator error than the tool's fault, but its something to keep in mind. The blower didn't keep up with the wet pt saw dust, but that didn't surprise me. It helped dampen vibration. I was amazed at how effortlessly it made the cuts. Material changed to pressure treated during the planning stage. This saw rocks.
I bought it to cut decorative ends in some framing lumber for an outdoor project. Only downside (if you can call it that) was that I pulled the saw out of a curve I was making and the blade hit the board so hard, it actually bent the blade. The saw is on the heavy side, which I found to be a benefit.
It is very natural to hold in almost any position needed. I've always hated jig saws, proabably due to ones I've owned in the past that have been terrible. Maybe I need to work out more, but it's definitely a heavy-duty jig saw that can deal with almost anything you throw at it (with the right blade on it). I honestly do not know what I'd do without this jig saw. With the right blades and settings, this jigsaw is one of the most versatile tools I've ever owned. The only downside is that it could be too heavy for constant cutting above your head. I've used it to trim laminate flooring (laminate blade), cut through plywood (rough wood blade), trim fencing (fine cut wood blade), and many other items.
Everything about this tool is great,. After a year of steady use the Aluminum cast foot has bent out of shape and the notch that ensures a 90 degree angle has snapped off. except the foot.
