DeWALT DW059K-2 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-inch Cordless Impact Wrench Kit

With battery-powered tools, you often have to sacrifice power for portability, but that?s not the case with DeWalt?s DW059K-2 Cordless Impact Wrench. This 7-1/2-pound monster nutbuster is engineered for extra-heavy-duty professional use. Its 18-volt nickel-cadmium (nicad) battery delivers an amazing 3,600 inch-pounds of torque, and 2,600 blows per minute. That?s more than enough power to bust loose virtually any stubborn nut?including tire lugs?or to drive in the very longest, fattest hex-head screws or bolts.

The DW059K-2 has a two-speed, variable-speed motor that operates from zero to 1,650 rpm, and zero to 2,600 rpm; that wide operating range increases the tool?s versatility and offers you more control. It also has a quick-fire rocker-switch trigger: squeeze the top half of the trigger to tighten a fastener, depress the bottom half to loosen it. The 10-3/4-inch-long wrench is equipped with a metal 1/2-inch-square detent pin anvil that holds sockets firmly in place.

Other features include an anti-slip handle, tough magnesium gear case, and an all-metal transmission for smooth operation. -- Joseph Truini

DeWALT DW059K-2 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-inch Cordless Impact Wrench Kit Reviews

However it is very noisy (need protection), has no brake, very heavy and is not as powerful as expected. I use it a lot when I work on my truck. Good tool, quite powerful. Well built, rugged and strong. Th esocket attachement is not practical at all. Battery life is great.

I ordered this 1/2" to use on my track car. The battery lasts a very long time and the wrench will pull off my 80lb torqued lug nuts even when the battery is starting to go. I ordered the Dewalt 6 piece 18 volt tool combo but I didn't realize the included impact wrench was a 1/4". Consider when buying that you do get 2 batteries and a charger with it, one of the reasons it's so expensive. It's expensive but it's a great tool. It works extremely well.

Since I already have a Dewalt cordless drill and experienced zero problems whatsoever, I decided I'd go ahead and make the purchase without checking any reviews. I'm convinced this cordless impact wrench can handle most automotive repair jobs as long as it can fit. I have to say that I am extremely happy with my purchase. I had to take off flywheel bolts that just wouldn't budge. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and wouldn't mind doing the bigger projects, you'll save yourself a lot of money and time.

Another job that I had been putting off was changing my rear struts. I hope this tool lasts a very very long time. I had no problems loosening the lug nuts, strut mounting bolts or the strut nut on top. This impact wrench did the job. The only con I have experienced so far as others have mentioned is that this particular model does not have variable speed meaning you push the trigger and it goes full speed.

It took it off and tightened it with ease. No sweat. Due to time constraints I picked up this impact wrench, but I was initially looking into the ingersol rand model. Although, it was an impulse buy at Sears, I would have saved more than $50 on Amazon so buy it here.

There is no ramping. Some mechanics quoted me upwards of $200 just for the labor, as I had already picked up new parts myself.

I had high hopes. Fresh battery. Failed to remove 3 out of 4 lugs on a 1998 Corolla. Failed to remove any lugs on a 1996 buick. Failed to remove 4 of 4 lugs on a small 2002 BMW.

I am fairly certain that it doesn't really produce 300 ft.lbs., except perhaps on absolute full charge. I was amazed: it only took me about five minutes to pull all of them into place. It took some wacking, but it got those studs in pretty fast. I was a little concerned about the wrench's stated torque, but bought it anyway thinking I could just use it to change tires in a hurry. Had to replace four wheel studs on a very tight hub on an older Chevy Suburban K1500 4X4. I would definitely recommend it, unless you are going to be pulling hub nuts or something and then I would get a strong air-powered model. I did the studs, both of my front wheels for brakes, and the battery wasn't showing any signs of slowing. Yes, it is loud, but not as loud as a compressor and air ratchet.
