Constructed of glass-filled nylon, the only metal on the 7972's is the cutting blade and two large pivot screws. They have survived cutting roots buried in gravel and other, similar abuses with no visible damage. These promise to outlast 5 conventional ones. The Fiscars 7972, 15 inch anvil loppers are the toughest, most durable loppers I have ever used. Despite the compact 15 inch total length, these geared loppers have plenty of power for nipping dried hardwood limbs. I have destroyed all-metal loppers.
I have had this pruner for about 7 years and it has earned its keep. A must for pruning roses. Great for everything that's too big for your regular clippers and you don't want to drag out the big loppers.
