In 20 passes, your knife should go from dull to sharp. So easy to use. Works OK with larger blades, like the Fiskars axes too.
It does a good job sharpening everything, from axes on down to knives. This item is terrific.
Highly recommended - I use it after each time I use my axe to keep it sharp.
Bob,, Maryland This is the best wood splitter. It is much superior to the 6# maul I have used, even though it is much lighter at 4 1/2 #. In summary, I have been splitting wood a long time, but this is easily the most improved wood tool I have used. The handle length is just right for me at age 81, but might not suit a young Paul Bunyan.
The reason I gave this sharpener 2 stars instead of 1 is because at least it made the axe sharp again. I brought this sharpener and I recently sharpened my Cold Steel Trail Boss with it and it takes like 20 minutes to sharpen it, it wears my arm down after a couple of minutes, and the sharpener is already wearing down. I'm planning next week to get the Fiskars Hatchet, the Fiskars Splitting Axe, and I'm also planning to get a Granfors Bruks Sharpener to replace this one. P.S. .
