Most portable benchtop table saws can be divided into two categories: 1.) inexpensive, flimsy models that are lightweight, but lack the power to do any serious cutting, or 2.) expensive, large-capacity saws that are too heavy to easily transport. Then there?s the Jet Model 708315. This 10-inch benchtop saw has a 15 amp, 5,000 rpm motor that provides plenty of raw cutting power, yet it weighs just 62 pounds. The saw has an ample 20- by 27-inch table with an extension wing that creates a cutting capacity of 24-1/2 inches. It cuts up to 3 inches deep with the blade set at 90 degrees, and up to 2-1/2 inches with it bevel-set at 45 degrees. Unlike most benchtop table saws in this price range, which have direct-drive motors, this Freud saw transfers power from the motor to the blade arbor via a poly V-belt; the result is a saw that runs much quieter and smoother. The saw comes with a miter gauge, wing extension, rear outfeed support, and instructional booklet. -- Joseph Truini

JET 708315BTC JBTS-10BT-3 15 Amp Benchtop Table Saw Reviews
Heres my story. The answer: not much. You get what you pay for. Where the rod goes throuh the flanges is enough slop to allow the whole assembly to move.
I'll give Jet 2 stars for trying. As far as I can see The whole trunion assembly pivots on a rod attacthed to the bottom of the table. Lets be honest, how good of a saw with a 24" rip capacity can you buy for $ 220.00. So I start to take the blade off and notice that with a little moderate side pressure on the blade it will deflect as much as 1/8". So I make sure that the blade is parallel to the fence and to the miter slots.
I read the reviews about the fence and thought: I can deal with that. So I figure the blade is probably junk. I get the saw set up with no real issues, keeping in mind that I saved about half of the money I would of spent on my next choose. Somethings gotta be loose, Right. So I call Jet's tech. support and speak to a very nice gentleman who says, " Somthings gotta be loose". So I turn the saw over and inspect all it's workings and I can't find anything loose.
It couldn't be any worse than my old Makita. Ok, I was trying to save a little money. I'm keeping the other 3 stars to gradify my frustration. Ok, recheck the fence and its ok. Back to the saw to take another look. I make my first test cut using the 36t blade supplied with the saw and the cut looks so bad that it would take 1/8" pass through the jointer to clean it up.
This is a highly rated saw with a poor, toy miter gauge and fence, is out of alignment and throws dust and chips everwhere. Although a toy saw, it is quite capable of amputating your finger or hitting you with kickback. There's a lesson here: Give careful consideration to low ratings. The belt drive is fine, and I suppose the price is right. Novice beware. Go figure.
Spend a little more and get a better saw. Even with a vac attached it is the messiest table saw I've ever used. It can scatter dust all over my shop. Buy a saw with a cast iron table top. There is no zero clearence table insert.
This one is. Not many smaller table saws are. I used it to cut laminated flooring which is a very dense product.
I have zero complaints. I could go on and on, but won't. It has large rubber feet to prevent slipping. One of the best purchases I have made in a long time. It cut it well and the blade lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.
It is easy to change blades. I would get this saw again in a heartbeat. My dad knows all about saws and he said the most important thing about a table saw is to get one that is belt driven. This is a huge plus. If you looking for a compact table saw look no further, buy this one.
It's very portable. It cuts well, cuts straight, the fence is good (not as good as some on more expensive or larger table saws) for the size saw.
I love this saw. Take the time to fine square the blade (instructions provided), and use a carpenters square to make sure the fence is square and you'll have no problems. It does some great work.
