I had an HVAC guy leave their metal-cased Sawzall on my back deck, exposed to rain and snow. 1) It is lighter weight. 2) It's much better in wet situations. This case keeps the V28 Sawzall, batteries, charger, and some blades safe during transport and on the job site. I've used the older Sawzalls with the metal cases, and while those are arguably more bombproof, there are a few advantages to the lighter weight plastic:. 3) It's a lot gentler on the powder coat of the compartments on my truck. I discovered it a few days later, and, even in that short time, it wasn't pretty. This may make the difference at the end of a long day when you're lugging stuff back to the truck.
Worst of all, the compartment keeps popping open when I open the case, spilling the blades anywhere. I love the saw, but I hate this case. Pointless, if you ask me. Unfortunately, the old metal cases don't have room for the charger. the description mentions that it has 'room for two batteries, charger, and blade storage'. one attacted to the tool, and two extras. You can try to squeeze in some blades in the main compartment with the saw, but it's a tight fit.
One note about the case. held more blades and accessories then you'd ever need, and it was SMALLER. I go through blades quite quickly, so I have to keep my extras separate. Every day I haul my V28 Sawzall to work in this plastic case. It offers a small compartment for storing extra blades, but I normally keep the larger 12" blades with me, so there's about enough room for only a few blades. This is the one feature I like about it. Actually, it has room for three batteries.
I miss the old metal cases that Milwaukee use to have.
Unlike a previous reviewer - this review is about the product purchased - not whether or not Milwaukee should have provided a hard case with the V28 4 piece cordless tool kit. I would highly recommend this case to anyone with the V28 or V18 Sawzall. It has storage for the saw itself, batteries, and a storage compartment for blades. The case is high quality and is fairly priced.
I just could not stand to store $700.00 worth of the new V 28 tools in a flimsy nylon bag, so I had to buy this case. Shame on Milwaukee for not providing a blow molded case to store these tools when purchased as a kit. The quality is fine, but I give it 1 Star because I should not have had to buy this case at all. The 36 Volt DeWalt system comes in a nice fitted case that stores all four tools, batteries & a charger with no problem. I also purchased the circ saw & hammer drill case as well.
