MK Diamond 158252 MK-145 1/2 Horsepower 4-1/2-Inch Wet Tile Saw Reviews
In use, the saw worked just fine, I used it for cutting 2" tiles for the kitchen backsplash and it cut all tiles with no problem. This is not an industrial saw and it should not be expected to perform like one. The saw arrived on time and was assembled as per the directions with no problems. I would buy this saw again and recommend it for the home DIYer. It did not bogged down in use, just use a slow steady feed rate. The fence bows up a little when it is tightened down, but that is not a problem.
So, I think this saw is good for smaller tile job. For a first time user, I think this saw is great for the price and for the capacity. It is easy to put together. I had to build an additional fence to cut 16x16 tile. The fence was reasonable parallel to the fence right out of the box.
For a small job, or a take-your-time DIY person, this is a great saw. Other than that, it cut clean and true. Motor: I only bound it up 2 or 3 times over 40 cuts, but I know as a first-timer I was definately not trying to rush the job. And yes, use it outside.but who would really want to use a wet saw in a nice indoor application. I also had to clean the entire thing every 5-8 cuts. Everyone that has previously reviewed this saw has covered the bases (both good and bad).
Cleaning: When I was cutting 12x12x1/2 slate, I had to refill the reservior and clean the workspace every 2 or 3 cuts. I'd hate to rent a bigger saw, knowing I was paying by the hour I would probably screw up more cuts than I already did on my own. Price: I borrowed this saw from a friend to do my slate job, but I think it is perfect for a DIYer, so I'm buying one for myself. :).
Just use it like you should, take your time, and it will not dissapoint. It cuts quite nicely and is not too messy (for a tile saw of course). I couldn't be happier with this little saw - best bang for the buck by far. I love the small size and the light weight - it really stores nicely out of the way between projects. If you are doing a remodeling project or 2 or 3, then don't hesitate to buy this saw. It might not be a "pro" level saw but everyone who has seen my results with it would swear that the job was professionally done.
It did a great job cutting 2" hex marble floor tiles. The fence adjustment tends to get clogged with tile dust and fragments pretty quickly, which makes adjustment difficult, but a quick hose-down of the saw fixes this. We're in the middle of a complete bathroom remodel right now and bought this saw for the job. This saw is as good or better than all the others in the $75-$125 price range. This is the case for most saws of this type/price range, of which I've used several. We're now using it on 3x6" wall field tile and it is making nice clean straight cuts.
